Restorative Dentistry

Repair and replace teeth with Crowns, Bridges, Inlays, Onlays and Dentures to restore health and function

What are Dentures?

Dentures are custom-made removable appliances used to replace missing teeth and surrounding tissue. Depending on your needs, we offer:

  • Complete Dentures – for patients who have lost all their teeth in one or both jaws
  • Partial Dentures – for those who still have some natural teeth remaining
  • Immediate Dentures – placed on the same day teeth are removed
  • Implant-Supported Dentures – for added stability and comfort

Types of Denture Materials

Dentures can be made from various materials, each with its own advantages:

  • Acrylic Dentures
Lightweight and cost-effective, acrylic is commonly used for full or partial dentures. It offers a natural gum-coloured base and is easy to adjust
  • Cobalt Chrome (Metal-Based) Dentures
Durable and thinner than acrylic, these partial dentures use a metal framework that provides excellent strength and stability with minimal bulk
  • Flexible Dentures (Valplast)
A soft, bendable material that offers comfort and a snug fit—ideal for partial dentures and patients with sensitive gums.

Our dentists will discuss with you and select the most appropriate material based on your teeth and gum condition as well as budget.

What are Crowns and Bridges?

A dental crown is a custom-made cap that covers and protects a tooth that is damaged, worn down, or weakened due to cracks, large fillings or root canal treatment. Crowns restore your tooth’s shape, strength, and aesthetics—allowing you to chew and smile with confidence again.

Crowns may be recommended for:

  • Teeth with large cavities or fractures
  • Root canal treated teeth
  • Severely worn or misshapen teeth
  • Aesthetic improvements

We offer crowns in materials like Zirconia, Emax ceramic, Full metal crowns, Porcelain-fused-to-metal, selected based on strength, aesthetics, and the location of the tooth.

A dental bridge is used to replace one or more missing teeth. It consists of one or more artificial teeth anchored to natural teeth (or implants) on either side. A bridge not only fills the gap left by missing teeth but also prevents adjacent teeth from shifting, which could cause bite issues or food impaction.

Procedure for Crown and Bridge Treatment

Step 1: Initial consult and assessment

Your dentist will assess the condition of your teeth as well as take x-rays to determine if crown and bridge treatment is suitable for you.

Step 2: Tooth Preparation

Your tooth will be gently reshaped to make space for the crown. For a bridge, the teeth adjacent to the gap (abutment teeth) are prepared to support the bridge.

Step 3: Impression/Digital Scan

An accurate impression of the prepared tooth will be taken to ensure a good fit of the crown and bridge.

Step 4: Temporary Crown/Bridge

A temporary crown/bridge will be placed to protect the prepared teeth while waiting for the laboratory to fabricate the final crown and bridge prosthesis.

Step 5: Final Crown/Bridge Fit

After removal of the temporary crown, the prepared tooth is cleaned and the final crown is fitted in place. The crown will be checked for a precise fit, comfortable bite and good aesthetics. Your dentist will make the necessary adjustments before permanently bonding it in place.

Onlays and Inlays

When a tooth is too damaged for a filling but does not require a full crown, inlays and onlays offer an ideal solution. These restorations are custom-made to fit your tooth precisely, strengthening it while preserving more of its natural structure.

Inlays fit inside the grooves and contours of your tooth, while onlays cover a larger area, extending over one or more cusps (the pointed tips) of the tooth.

Inlays and Onlays are recommended for:

  • Large cavity or old filling that needs replacement
  • Tooth is cracked or worn but still mostly intact
  • Stronger, more aesthetic alternative to a standard filling

Veneers

Dental veneers are thin, custom-made shells made of porcelain or composite resin that are bonded to the front surface of your teeth. They are designed to improve the shape, colour, size, or alignment of your teeth

Veneers are recommended for:

  • Discoloured or stained teeth
  •  Chipped or worn-down teeth
  • Slightly misaligned or uneven teeth
  • Gaps between teeth
  • Teeth that appear too short or irregular in shape
